Taj Mahal, The Monument of Love

At the bank of the river Yamuna and in the lap of Agra there is the best example of love. It is a shining monument made up of white marble which was prepared in the memory of Mughal queen Mumtaz Mahal with the order of her husband Shah Jahan after her death. Yes, I am talking about the Taj Mahal. It is being said that the Taj Mahal is built on the dead body of Mumtaj Mahal.

When we go inside the Taj Mahal, In the middle of this Mahal, we see two tombs. One of them is of Mumtaj Mahal’s tomb and another is of Shah Jahan, the Mughal emperor. The construction work of the Taj Mahal was started in 1632. Shah Jahan wanted to fix an unforgettable memory of love between him and her favorite wife to the world. In that context, the Taj Mahal was constructed. The construction work was finished in 1643 but it took 10 years more in the modification of its beauty.

Till 1653 the work was completed and it was ready with its awesome beauty. In complete work of the construction and modification, around 32 million was expended. According to information, in that construction work around more than 25000 workers were involved. Ustad Ahmad Lahauri is considered as the main architect of the construction work of the Taj Mahal. All workers were working under his instruction.

In 1983, the Taj Mahal was announced as a UNESCO world heritage place. Along with that Taj Mahal was announced as the world’s most appreciating artwork as well. In 2007, the Taj Mahal was listed as the world’s best seven wonders. Around 9-10 million people visit this place each year. Taj Mahal was build according to Persian and ancient Mughal culture. The architecture and artwork are inspired by some old buildings of the Mughal era like Gur-E-Amir, Monument of Humayun, and Jama-Masjid.

At that time the usual buildings were used to build with red sandstone. But, the Taj Mahal was prepared with shining white marble that adds four stars in the beauty of the architecture. The special thing is that the first raindrop of monsoon falls on their tombs. According to the story behind the preparation of this Mahal, Queen Mumtaz Mahal was dead while she was giving birth to their 14th child. This reminds us of their famous love story. This has become a symbol of love.

Shah Jahan and Mumtaz are still alive and safe in the heart of millions of people and Indians. Their love is safe and alive. Taj Mahal is spread in around 17 hectares. It is circled with so many buildings. In this, Masjid and guest house is included. In front of this, there are gardens as well. It has enough and wide areas.

Taj Mahal is an incredible thing to which many people come and visit. The height of the Taj Mahal is around 73 meters.  It looks different in a day at different times. In the morning it looks a little bit pink, in the evening it looks milky, and at night it looks golden. It is compared with a woman’s mood with the changing colors of this monument.
